Buffy finale
I'm going to put this behind a cut, because while I'm pretty sure everyone in this fandom has watched the entire series of Buffy, I don't want to ruin anything for those that haven't.
I got my best friend into watching Buffy this past summer and over the past 7 months we've watched the entire series. Wow, pretty weird and I also realize I have no life. But moving on-tonight we watched the series finale. I love the episode and what Joss accomplished with it, but my friend had a lot of questions. Her biggest one being, why wasn't Xander more upset about Anya's death and the same for Buffy with Spike's? Neither of them cry for the person they loved dying. My friend argued that they were more upset over Buffy's death (well, Willow and Xander were) than Spike and Anya's. I thought that when Buffy died no one was really expecting it, but going into the fight with the First they all expected not to make it out of there so it wasn't such a huge shock when some of them actually did die.
Also, the whole Angel coming back thing. I watched Joss' explanation which was that he had to give the Buffy/Angel fans out there hope that one day they might be together. But then at the same time, Buffy's in love with Spike and "in her heart" he's her boyfriend. Doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. And that was so not a hello kiss. The cookie dough speech made me feel like Joss is saying Buffy's just using Spike until she's cookies and ready for Angel, when he's also saying that Buffy does love Spike. Obviously as a Spuffy fan, I totally believe she loved Spike way before she admitted it (definitely falling in love with him in s6, even if she didn't know it yet) and I don't think she's in love with Angel anymore. More like Angel was her first love, and Spike is her true love. Sounds totally sappy, I know, but that's what I think.
What do you guys think?
Oh, and I also want to show off new icons break_me_love made for me, they're awesome!
