1. Elena/Damon - Like I said above, I adore their friendship, but c'mon show please give me a few (continuous) episodes where they actually have something more!
2. Elena & Jeremy - Yes, I have such a soft spot for sibling relationships. This is the one area where I don't fault Elena for being controlling. This is your family, the only flesh and blood you have left and I don't blame her for going over the line to protect him.
3. Elena & Alaric - Although the show definitely teases us with these two and their crazy chemistry, I love the camaraderie they have. Alaric looks out for her without acting like the "parent."
